Water damage multiplies quickly
A burst pipe left running for hours rather than minutes can mean the difference between a contained repair and a claim involving flooring, ceilings and decoration across multiple rooms.
Emergency Call-Outs, Out Of Hours Too, no call-out fee
A burst pipe, a boiler that has cut out on the coldest day of the year, or a leak you cannot stop: I attend genuine emergencies same day, often within a couple of hours, and talk you through what to do while I am on my way.
No call-out fee ever, phone answered out of hours, and same-day attendance for genuine emergencies.
A genuine emergency is something that poses an immediate risk to safety or is actively causing damage, a burst pipe flooding a room, a gas smell, a boiler that has completely failed in freezing weather with vulnerable people in the house, a leak you cannot isolate, or no heating and hot water at all. These get same-day attendance, often within a couple of hours of the call.
Not everything that feels urgent needs an emergency response, and I will tell you honestly which category your problem falls into. A boiler that is making a new noise but still working, or a dripping tap, is a standard call-out, attended within 24 hours where possible, rather than an emergency, and there is no benefit to you paying emergency rates for a job that does not need them.
For genuine emergencies, the first thing that happens is a phone or video call. I will talk you through immediate safety steps, where the stopcock is, how to isolate the boiler, whether to turn off the electricity to a wet area, while I am travelling to you, so the situation is not getting worse in the time it takes me to arrive.
Homeowners, landlords and small commercial premises across Reigate, Epsom, Banstead, Cobham and South West London facing a burst pipe, total loss of heating or hot water, a gas smell, or an uncontrolled leak.
Water you cannot stop, no heating or hot water in cold weather, a smell of gas, a boiler that has shut down completely, or any situation where leaving it until the next working day would cause damage or risk.
Emergency situations often involve gas or water systems where the wrong immediate action makes things worse. Getting the right safety guidance straight away, from someone qualified to give it, limits damage and risk before the engineer even arrives.
The cost of an emergency almost always grows with time. A leak that floods a room in an hour causes far more damage over a weekend, and a house with no heating in winter becomes a health risk the longer it goes unresolved, particularly for older or vulnerable occupants.
A burst pipe left running for hours rather than minutes can mean the difference between a contained repair and a claim involving flooring, ceilings and decoration across multiple rooms.
For households with young children, elderly residents or anyone with health conditions, a complete loss of heating in winter is not just uncomfortable; it can be dangerous if left unresolved.
Any suspicion of a gas leak needs immediate action: ventilating the property, not using electrical switches or naked flames, and calling the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 as well as arranging an engineer.
Waiting until a convenient time for a problem that is actively getting worse usually means a bigger repair bill, and sometimes damage that a faster response would have avoided altogether.
Phone calls are answered outside standard 8am–5pm hours as well as during them, so you are not left without a response when something happens in the evening or at night.
I talk you through what to do right away, turning off water at the stopcock, isolating the boiler, ventilating for a suspected gas leak, often over a video call so I can see exactly what you are dealing with.
Genuine emergencies are attended same day, often within a couple of hours, while standard call-outs are attended within 24 hours where possible.
The fault is diagnosed and, where possible, repaired on the same visit. Reactive work is charged at £90 + VAT for the first hour and £45 + VAT per additional 30 minutes, with a fixed price agreed upfront if the job is likely to run beyond three or four hours.
Emergency repairs carry the same 1 year workmanship guarantee and 1 year on materials and parts supplied as any other job, so a fast fix is not a lesser one.
Calls are answered directly, including out of hours, by the engineer who will actually attend, not a booking line passing your details on.
Safety steps talked through by phone or video call while I am travelling to you, so damage or risk is limited in the meantime.
Genuine emergencies are attended same day, often within a couple of hours, across Reigate, Epsom, Banstead, Cobham and South West London.
You are never charged simply for the engineer attending, whatever time the emergency happens.
If your situation is not a genuine emergency, I will say so and arrange a standard call-out instead, so you are not paying emergency urgency for a non-urgent job.
Emergency repairs carry the same 1 year workmanship guarantee and 1 year on parts supplied as planned work.
Here is how I approach the most common emergency situations across Reigate, Epsom, Banstead and the wider Surrey and South West London area.
A burst pipe or leak you cannot stop is one of the most common emergency calls. The first priority is isolating the water, I will talk you through finding and turning off the stopcock over the phone if you are not sure where it is, before I attend to trace and repair the source.
On arrival, the damaged section is repaired or replaced, the system is checked for other weak points nearby, and the water is restored safely before I leave.
A complete loss of heating or hot water, particularly in cold weather, is treated as a priority emergency. Common causes include a failed pump, a lockout fault, low pressure caused by a leak, or a failed component such as a PCB or diverter valve.
I diagnose the fault on arrival and repair it on the same visit wherever the part situation allows, so the household is not left without heating for longer than necessary.
Any suspected gas smell is treated as urgent. I advise ventilating the property, avoiding naked flames or electrical switches, and contacting the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately, alongside arranging for me to attend and investigate the source as a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Emergency call-outs cover houses and flats across Epsom, Reigate, Banstead, Cobham, Walton-on-Thames, Dorking, Worcester Park and South West London, as well as small commercial premises such as shops, offices and salons where a burst pipe or heating failure can affect trading.
Roughly half of all the work I do is emergency call-outs, so this is not an occasional add-on to the business; it is dealt with as a core part of the day-to-day work.
There is no call-out fee, ever. Work is charged at £90 + VAT for the first hour and £45 + VAT per additional 30 minutes, whether it is daytime or out of hours. If the job is likely to run beyond three or four hours, I agree a fixed price before continuing.
Genuine emergencies are attended same day, often within a couple of hours, across Reigate, Epsom, Banstead, Cobham and South West London. Standard, non-urgent call-outs are attended within 24 hours where possible.
Yes. Standard hours are 8am–5pm, but the phone is still answered outside of that, so you are not left without a response if something happens in the evening or overnight.
Call first. I will talk you through immediate safety steps over the phone or a video call, turning off the water at the stopcock, isolating the boiler, or ventilating the property for a suspected gas smell, so the situation does not get worse before I get there.
If water cannot be stopped, there is no heating or hot water at all, or you can smell gas, treat it as an emergency and call straight away. If you are not sure, call anyway; I will tell you honestly whether it needs same-day attendance or can be booked as a standard call-out.
Ventilate the property immediately, avoid naked flames or electrical switches, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 as well as getting in touch with me so I can attend as a Gas Safe registered engineer.
In most cases, yes. I carry a stock of common parts, and the aim is always to diagnose and repair on the same call-out rather than leaving you waiting for a return visit, though occasionally a specific part needs to be ordered.
The same as any other job, 1 year on my workmanship and 1 year on the materials and parts I supply, regardless of what time the repair was carried out.
Emergency call-outs make up roughly half of all the work I do, so it is a core part of the day-to-day business, not an inconvenience fitted around planned jobs.
