How much does a powerflush cost?
Cost depends on the number of radiators and how sludged the system is, so I assess it and give a free written quote before starting. There is no call-out fee for the assessment.
How long does a powerflush take?
A typical domestic system with eight to ten radiators usually takes the best part of a day. Heavily sludged systems or larger properties can take longer, which I confirm at the quote stage.
Do I need a powerflush before a new boiler?
Not always, every install I do includes standard cleaning and inhibitor dosing. Where the existing system shows heavy sludging, a powerflush is the honest recommendation to protect the new boiler's heat exchanger, and I will show you the water rather than just tell you.
Will a powerflush fix cold radiators?
In most cases, yes, if sludge is the cause. I check for other causes too, a stuck valve or airlock, for example, since a powerflush will not resolve a mechanical fault unrelated to debris in the system.
Is powerflushing safe for an older heating system?
Generally yes, but very old or already leaking pipework and radiators can be stressed by the flush process. I assess system condition first and will flag any concerns before proceeding.
How will I know the flush has worked?
I check the water running from each radiator before and after; it should run clear rather than the black or brown water typically seen before the flush. Radiators should also feel evenly warm across their whole surface afterwards.
What guarantee do you offer on powerflushing?
1 year on my workmanship and 1 year on the inhibitor and any filter or parts supplied as part of the flush.
How often should a heating system be powerflushed?
A system that is properly dosed with inhibitor and protected with a magnetic filter after flushing should not need another full flush for many years. Systems without ongoing protection, or with persistent corrosion issues, may need attention sooner; I will advise honestly based on what the water shows.
Do you offer emergency powerflushing?
Powerflushing itself is planned work rather than an emergency call-out, but if cold radiators or a noisy boiler need urgent attention I can attend quickly to diagnose whether a flush or a different repair is the right fix, standard call-outs within 24 hours where possible, emergencies often within a couple of hours.
Which areas do you cover for powerflushing?
Epsom, Reigate, Banstead, Cobham, Walton-on-Thames, Dorking, Worcester Park, the surrounding Surrey area and South West London, working from my base in Reigate.
